From Majestic Design to Home Mandir

Shwet is inspired by the aesthetics of Ancient India, where beauty was created at a grand scale. Magnificent temples were brought to life at the order of the king, a sacred figure to his people, and his architects were inspired by the sacred art of temple design. They were also inspired by the natural world, including their local stone

The ancient guidelines we follow today, written in the Shilpa Shastras and Vastu Shastras, gave precise instructions for every detail, from the elegant proportions of the building to the refined mathematical curve of patterns and carvings. The result was divinity manifested on earth, bringing equilibrium and transcendence to the people.

Thankfully, such glorious elements were later distilled into home mandirs. Of the larger size, these breathtaking works of art brought harmony into homes with space to accommodate their beauty. The designers and artisans who created them followed the same sacred guidance as those at the palace, and were of course led by the same divine will.

Shwet is following in these footsteps, in a more practical way. We design all our mandirs from the ground up, so the refinement of regal temples can be retained in creations suitable for modern domestic life. They share the same visual handwriting in things like the jaali, carvings and inlay. Importantly, our temples are just as durable enough to last for generations, needing little maintenance to keep them looking their best. This strength also gives peace of mind when it comes to transporting them, for example during a house move.

21St Century Living - Form & Function

We believe beauty is as radiant at the modest scale as it is at the grand. A graceful Shwet mandir will light up the simplest place, creating a focal point of elegance. With careful planning, a corner of a city-center apartment can be transformed into a refined puja space that uplifts the whole home.

Shwet’s fine, slender designs are also much lighter in comparison to larger home temples, and can easily be moved to different rooms in your home if required during a refurbishment. They bring a delicate feel that works with many décor schemes, and can bring as much impact as more substantial, dramatic temples.

Our optional personalization service ensures your temple is aligned with your space, needs and preferences, ensuring a precise fit wherever you choose to place it. You can adorn the back panel with a beloved deity or mantra, transforming one of our classic designs into something more reflective of your path.

Harmony exists at all levels. Shwet mandirs reflect the equilibrium of the divine, and are also thoughtfully designed for ease of use. Drawers, for example, open smoothly and have flexible sectioning to accommodate your devotional items. Pre-installed lights are carefully selected to draw out the opalescence of the Makrana marble. Additionally, small details such as discreet hooks for curtains enhance elegance by keeping everything neat and tidy.
