Our Philosophy

Guided by the Shilpa Shastras, and inspired by the inner illumination of Makrana marble, Shwet’s master artisans breathe a sense of the sacred into every home mandir they create.

Shilpashastra Inspired Designs

Shwet roots the wisdom of the Shilpa Shastras and Vastu Shastras in the rapidly changing modern world. These ancient principles breathe life into all our designs. Each aspect expresses divine rhythm, creating a powerful source of energy in the home.

Touches of contemporary Indian thought highlight how the philosophy thrives today. Though our devotional items are entirely hand-carved, technology plays an important role in the planning stage. Shwet utilizes sketching, followed by 3D modelling and autoCAD drafting software, in order to reach exacting historic standards and ensure ease of use.

Following these ancient guidelines guarantees attention to detail at every stage. Smoothly opening drawers bring a sense of grace to your home, and their spaciousness eliminates any need for excess storage. The surface area has great depth, making your deities very easy to place. Refinement comes naturally when wisdom is respected.

Pure White Makrana Marble

Makrana marble is known as the divine stone a reason. Its unique balance of properties creates a majesty that no other marble in the world can match.

Longevity is its greatest strength. Temples are a testament to its improvement with age, and they require minimal maintenance. Makrana retains its purity because it absorbs no other color. The white always looks clean, an obvious bonus in busy homes. This is enhanced by its moisture content, which creates the famous glowing sheen.

Makrana also has a distinct sharpness. In the right hands, its fine edges bring sublimity to devotional architecture. Other marbles look rather blunt by comparison, as they lack the strength and resilience. Makrana is therefore the best possible investment in the art of the home mandir.

Beloved by artisans, the marble’s uniform grain and ability to take fine details make it the stone of choice for murtis and mandirs. The Sompura family, notable for their rich lineage of religious architecture, regard Makrana very highly. Globally, the Taj Mahal is the most famous example of this marble’s affinity with love.

As befits its quality, Makrana marble recently became Asia’s first Global Heritage Stone Resource (GHSR). This recognition by the elite International Union of Geological Sciences underlines its unique qualities.

Handmade by Master Artisans

Shwet’s artisans, the Ustajis, are amongst the most talented in the world. Their community has been rooted in Makrana for centuries, and they carry the wisdom of generations within them. These artisans could be described as masters of light, thanks to their ability to draw out the fine glow within the stone.

Mandirs created by them have been regarded with fascination across the globe for centuries. A unique expression of the sacred shines through the design and execution, bringing refinement to wherever you choose to place them. Such beauty is destined to be passed through the generations.

These master artisans see themselves as custodians of Makrana marble, and Shwet is very proud to work with them.
