Alok

Om relief | Floral jharokha arch | Three-drawer base | Wall-mount | Compact form

Alok means light divine radiance and this mandir holds to that meaning with complete conviction. It is the Griha collection's most direct wall-mounted piece, and perhaps its most confident.

A carved floral jharokha arch works the upper portion of the outer panel, with vine and flower detail at the corners and crown. Below it, a large om symbol is carved in deep, assured relief at the centre of the plain marble field present without elaboration, needing nothing else around it. Three drawers at the base, the central one fitted with a carved floral medallion handle, provide puja storage and serve as the offering shelf.

There is a particular kind of beauty in a mandir that trusts a single symbol to carry all the meaning required. Alok is that mandir. It will sit well on a study wall, a bedroom wall, or any wall in a home where daily worship asks to be answered simply and beautifully.
