Vihaan

Geometric jaali back panel | Three brass bells | Wall-mount

Vihaan is dawn, the first light and this is the quality of light that defines the piece. A wall-mounted sanctuary built entirely around a pierced geometric jaali panel of interlocking three-dimensional forms: it does not merely display the deity, but surrounds it with a lattice through which light passes in different directions through the day, never quite the same from one hour to the next.

Three small brass temple bells hang from the upper frame, their sound marking the beginning and end of worship. The outer frame is clean and recessed in the manner of a fine stone window — disciplined in its proportions, allowing the jaali to hold all the attention. A marble shelf below provides space for offerings.

Vihaan can be wall-mounted or placed on a table composed and complete in either position. It is the Griha collection's most space-efficient design and perhaps its most visually striking. The quality of light it creates will vary with the season, the hour, and the room. It is, above all, a mandir that asks to be lived with.
